From May 29 – June 1, 2020:

Giuseppe Verdi
Rigoletto

At the court of the Duke of Mantua glittering celebrations are happening. But the society that amuses itself there knows no more values and amuses itself out of deadly boredom. The jester Rigoletto is the most cynical jester of all. He wants only to protect his daughter Gilda from the depraved world. He forbids her everything – but the young woman goes her way anyway.

With this production, director Tatjana Gürbaca has created a staging that is as scenically reduced as it is expressive and visually powerful, which has been acclaimed by the audience and press alike. At the podium of the Philharmonia Zürich is Fabio Luisi, General Music Director of Opernhaus Zürich and one of the world’s leading interpreters of the Italian opera repertoire.
