Mahler 7 – Riccardo Chailly & Gewandhausorchester Leipzig
The Leipzig orchestra and the Italian conductor have been working together for over eight years. The magnificent Mahler cycle, which has evoked standing ovations across the musical capitals of Europe and has been described by critics with rhapsodic adjectives such as “radiant”, “unforgettable” or “out of this world”, testifies to the musical fruits born of this cooperation. The cycle, which Chailly began in 2011 and Accentus Music documents on DVD, continues with Mahler‘s perhaps most complex work: his Symphony No. 7. The work is full of references to the night and takes the listener into a world of ghosts and fairy tales, nostalgia and nightly serenades.
